Most lists of offshore sportsbooks rank by the size of the welcome bonus. That's the least useful number available, and we'll show you the arithmetic on why.

This one ranks on what actually costs or saves you money over a season: the price you pay on every bet, how long it really takes to get paid, what a bonus is worth after you strip out the wagering, and whether the book still accepts your state.

Verified against each operator's own terms, banking and promotions pages, September 2026. Re-checked monthly — see the revision log at the bottom.

Quick answers

Best overall value on bonuses: BetOnline. Its welcome credit carries no rollover, which makes a $250 offer worth more than a $1,000 offer at 10×.

Most products in one account: Bovada — sportsbook, casino, poker and racebook together — if it still accepts your state.

Biggest bonus ceiling: BetUS at 200% up to $1,000, for people who genuinely turn over $10,000–15,000.

If Bovada just stopped working for you: it withdrew from Kansas, Louisiana and Pennsylvania in mid-2026 and now blocks roughly fourteen jurisdictions. Alternatives →

If you live in one of the 30 states with legal online betting: read the section below before signing up anywhere. Offshore is not automatically the better choice, and in about half the country it usually isn't.

* Bonus face value minus the expected cost of clearing the rollover at −110 pricing, expressed per $100 deposited so the rows are comparable. Each offer caps the deposit that counts, so the rate only holds up to that cap. Figures assume you complete the rollover without going broke first — method and its limits →

Why we don't rank by bonus size

Look at the first two rows. BetOnline's offer has a face value of $250; Bovada's crypto offer is $750 — three times bigger. After wagering, per $100 deposited, they're $27 and $35. The gap almost closes.

Now compare BetOnline's $250 to Bovada's $250 card offer: same face value, $27 against $16. The difference is that one has no rollover and the other requires 5× your deposit plus bonus in turnover.

Here's the arithmetic. Every dollar you put through a sportsbook at standard −110 pricing costs you about 4.55% in expectation — you win half the time for $0.909 and lose half the time for $1.00. So:

Expected cost of clearing a bonus ≈ turnover required × 4.55%

A 10× rollover on a $1,000 bonus means $10,000–15,000 of turnover depending on whether the multiple applies to the bonus alone or to deposit plus bonus. That's $455–682 of expected cost against a $1,000 bonus. Real value, but not $1,000 — and if you weren't going to place that many bets anyway, you're buying the bonus with house edge.

The rollover basis matters more than the multiple. "10× on the bonus" and "10× on deposit plus bonus" differ by about $228 on the same BetUS offer. It's the first thing to check in any cashier, ahead of the percentage on the banner.

Two ways to cut the cost:

Price you clear at Cost per $1 turned over
−105 (reduced juice) 2.38%
−110 (standard) 4.55%
−120 8.33%
Parlays and most props 15%+

Clearing $15,000 at −105 instead of −110 saves about $325. And never clear rollover with parlays — the hold is several times higher, which is exactly why some books nudge you toward them.

The sportsbooks

BetOnline

Best for: anyone taking a welcome offer, and anyone depositing small.

Code FREE250 gives you 50% of your deposit as free bet credit up to $250, plus 100 free spins, on a $10 minimum — and no rollover. The operator's own terms state it: no wagering requirement before you can withdraw winnings. That is rare enough in this market to be the single best welcome offer available.

Two catches you need before you claim. The credit expires 30 days after issue. And qualifying bets are restricted by sport — spreads and totals on football and basketball, moneyline on baseball and hockey with a maximum price of +125. That cap matters more than it sounds: a free bet's value rises steeply with the odds you use it at, and capped at +125 the credit converts at roughly 53% of face rather than the ~80% you'd get at +500. Call it $133 real value on a $250 credit.

The free spins come as 10 per day for 10 days, each day's batch expiring within 24 hours, with a $100 maximum win per spin.

Bovada

Best for: having sports, casino, poker and racing behind one login.

Two separate welcome offers by funding method. Crypto: code BTCSWB750, 75% up to $750 at 5× rollover, with the match counting up to a $1,000 deposit. Card: 50% up to $250 at 5×, no code, counting up to $500. The crypto route is materially better — larger cap, higher match, same multiple.

Check your state before anything else. Bovada has been withdrawing from US jurisdictions through 2026 as regulators issue cease-and-desist notices: Kansas after an 8 July notice from the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, Louisiana after a 6 August notice to parent company Harp Media B.V., and Pennsylvania in late August. It now blocks roughly fourteen jurisdictions including Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Michigan, Colorado, West Virginia, Connecticut, Ohio and DC.

On payouts, ignore what most reviews tell you. There are two stages: an internal approval of about 24 hours, and only then the method's own time. After approval, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and USDT land inside about an hour — Bitcoin takes a further 24. Bitcoin is the slowest crypto route out of Bovada, not the fastest, and carries the highest minimum at $75 against $10 for Litecoin. Cheques run 10–15 business days after approval.

BetUS

Best for: high-volume bettors who will genuinely clear a big rollover.

NEW200 gives 200% across your first three deposits up to $1,000, minimum $50, at 10× rollover on sports. There's also JOIN225 (225%, structured as 100% sports + 25% casino plus a further 100%) and JOIN200 for crypto. Reloads: SBBOOST at 100% sports plus 10% cash back up to $70 with 8× on the bonus and 3× on the cash, and GET50 at 50% sports plus 10% casino on a $100 minimum.

Two things to understand. "200% across your first three deposits" is not 200% on one deposit — you need to plan the schedule to reach the cap. And at 10×, a $500 deposit earning the full $1,000 bonus means $15,000 of turnover if the multiple applies to deposit plus bonus, costing about $682 at −110 and netting roughly $318. If it applies to the bonus only, turnover drops to $10,000 and the net rises to about $546.

That $228 swing rests on one clause. Confirm it in the cashier. Not confirmed

MyBookie

Best for: people who want the offer to pay out only if their first bet loses.

The headline sportsbook offer is a bet-back, not a deposit match: 100% refund of up to $500 in free play if your first bet loses, plus $25 in casino credit on deposit. You have to opt in on the bet slip and click "claim" on the pop-up — miss that and you have no offer at all.

Separately there's a 100% crypto match up to $1,000, and 200MYB for a 200% crypto casino sign-up on a $50 minimum. Reloads run up to 35% tiered on sports and up to 55% tiered on crypto. Referrals pay 200% up to $200 per friend, unlimited.

A bet-back is worth less than its face value. You only collect if the first bet loses, and the refund arrives as free play — which converts at 45–80% depending on the odds you can redeploy it at. Expected value on a $500 bet-back is roughly $125–200, not $500.

What actually separates these books

1. The price you pay on every bet

This is the biggest number in the whole comparison and almost nobody puts it on a hub page.

Betting −115 instead of −110 costs about 2.2 cents more per dollar risked. Across a season of 500 bets at $100, that's roughly $1,100 — more than every welcome bonus on this page combined.

So the single most valuable habit available to a recreational bettor isn't claiming bonuses. It's opening accounts at two or three books and taking the better price. Two accounts beat one bonus, every season, without exception.

Not confirmed

2. How long you actually wait to get paid

Two stages, and most reviews count one.

At Bovada, internal approval runs about 24 hours before the payment method's clock even starts. So "Bitcoin in 24 hours" is really up to two days. And within that, the coin you pick changes everything:

Method at Bovada Minimum After approval Weekly ceiling
Litecoin $10 up to 1 hour $180,000
Bitcoin Cash $10 up to 1 hour $2,500
Ethereum / USDT $50 up to 1 hour $2,500
Lightning $10 faster than Bitcoin $25,000/day
Bitcoin $75 up to 24 hours $90,000
Cheque $250 10–15 business days once per 7 days
Wire $1,500 10–15 business days once per 30 days

Note the weekly ceilings. Litecoin allows $180,000; Ethereum and USDT allow $2,500. Same account, same balance — a 72-fold difference decided by a dropdown.

3. Whether the bonus survives contact with the terms

Covered above. The short version: check the rollover basis first, the multiple second, the percentage last. And if there's an odds cap on free bets, find it before you plan around the credit — a +125 cap halves the value.

4. Whether they'll let you keep betting

Every book on this list limits winning accounts. The difference is how fast and how hard. Books that lean recreational limit earlier; books that court sharp action take bigger bets for longer.

Not independently measured

5. Whether they still take your state

The 2026 cease-and-desist wave is live and the picture changes monthly.

A note on workarounds: using a VPN breaches the terms you accepted, and operators enforce it at withdrawal — when your money is already inside. There is no regulator to appeal the forfeiture to. It isn't worth it.

When you should NOT use an offshore book

No other page in this SERP will tell you this, which is exactly why it belongs here.

As of 2026, 30 states plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico have legal online sports betting. Thirty-eight have legal sports betting in some form.

If you're in one of those 30 states, the regulated book gives you three things no offshore book can:

  • A regulator. If your bet is voided wrongly, you file with the state gaming commission and they have to answer. Offshore, your appeal is an email to support, and there is nothing above it.
  • Segregated funds. Your balance is protected if the operator fails. Offshore, it's an unsecured claim against a company in a jurisdiction you cannot practically sue in.
  • A complaints process with a defined outcome.

Use a regulated book if you have one available and you bet recreationally. The offshore bonus is not worth giving up a regulator.

Offshore makes sense when the legal market genuinely can't serve you. Eleven states have no legal sports betting at all — Alabama, Alaska, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Utah — and that list includes the two largest states in the country. Or when you've been limited to unusable stakes at every regulated book, or you want markets your state's regulator excludes.

That's the honest case for this whole category. It isn't "offshore is better." It's "offshore exists because for a lot of people the alternative is nothing."

Risks worth understanding before you deposit

No recourse. Covered above and it's the one that matters most.

Balance risk. No segregated-funds requirement, no deposit insurance. If an operator withdraws from your state, exits the market, or fails, your balance is an unsecured claim. Withdraw regularly rather than banking on these sites.

Payment friction. Card deposits get declined — that's UIGEA working as designed, and it's a payment block rather than an accusation against you. Crypto works but moves currency risk onto you.

Account closure. Books close and limit accounts with no obligation to explain and no disclosure rules.

Tax. US taxpayers owe federal income tax on gambling winnings regardless of where the book sits or whether it issues a W-2G. Offshore books don't report to the IRS. That isn't a loophole — it means the reporting obligation is entirely yours. Not confirmed

How to start without losing money

  1. Check your own state's statute first, not a blog's summary — including this one.
  2. Open two accounts, not one. Line shopping is worth more than any bonus.
  3. Deposit the minimum and withdraw it once before funding properly. A $20 round trip tells you more about a book than any review, this one included.
  4. Read the bonus terms before you accept, and screenshot them. Offshore books amend terms without notice and you have no regulator to appeal to.
  5. Withdraw regularly. Don't let a balance sit.
  6. Keep your own tax records. Nobody is sending you a form.
  7. Use Litecoin or Bitcoin Cash, not Bitcoin, for anything time-sensitive.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best offshore sportsbooks?+

By rollover-adjusted value rather than headline size: BetOnline for its no-rollover welcome credit, Bovada for having sports, casino, poker and racing in one account where it's available, and BetUS for high-volume bettors who will genuinely clear a 10× requirement. The biggest advertised number is rarely the best deal.

Is offshore sports betting legal in the US?+

Federal gambling law targets operators and payment processors rather than individual bettors, and we could find no reported federal prosecution of a recreational bettor for placing sports wagers online. State law varies, and Washington's RCW 9.46.240 is the one statute that clearly reaches the player. Full explanation → — journalism, not legal advice.

Which offshore sportsbook pays out fastest?+

Count both stages. At Bovada, internal approval runs roughly 24 hours, then Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash land inside an hour while Bitcoin takes a further 24. Not independently measured

What is the best offshore sportsbook bonus?+

BetOnline's FREE250 — 50% up to $250 as free bet credit with no rollover. Zero wagering is rare enough that a $250 credit there beats a $1,000 credit at 10× for most deposit sizes.

Are offshore sportsbooks safe?+

None is regulated by a US authority, so "safe" means operating history and payment record rather than legal protection. Everygame (since 1996) and Bookmaker.eu have the longest continuous records serving US players. Treat any balance you leave on any offshore site as at risk.

Why did Bovada stop working in my state?+

Bovada has withdrawn from around fourteen jurisdictions after state regulators issued cease-and-desist notices, most recently Kansas in July 2026, Louisiana in August and Pennsylvania in late August. Alternatives →

Can I use a VPN with an offshore sportsbook?+

It breaches the terms you agreed to, and books enforce it at withdrawal — when your money is already on the site. There is no regulator to appeal the forfeiture to.

Do offshore sportsbooks report winnings to the IRS?+

No. That doesn't remove your obligation — US taxpayers owe tax on gambling winnings regardless of where the operator is based. The record-keeping is entirely yours.

What's the difference between an offshore sportsbook and a legal one?+

A legal book is licensed by a US state, which brings a regulator, segregated funds and a complaints process. An offshore book has none of those and is available in states where the legal market isn't. Thirty states plus DC have legal online betting; eleven states have none at all.

How many offshore sportsbooks should I use?+

At least two. Taking the better of two prices is worth more over a season than any welcome bonus, and it's the only edge reliably available to a recreational bettor.
